దుమ్ముతో వాహనదారుల అవస్థలు
ఆకివీడు: మండలంలోని కలవపూడి-గణపవరం (కేజీ రహదారి) పునర్నిర్మాణ పనుల్లో భాగంగా చేరుకుమిల్లి-ఏలూరుపాడు రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులు నత్త కన్నా నెమ్మదిగా సాగుతున్నాయి. గత కొన్నేళ్లుగా ఈ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులు వాయిదా పడుతూ వచ్చింది. రోడ్డు పునర్నిర్మాణ పనులు చేపట్టి నాలుగు నెలలు కావస్తున్నా నిర్మాణ పనుల్లో వేగం లేదని ఆయా గ్రామాల ప్రజలు ఆవేదన వ్యక్తంచేస్తున్నారు. రోడ్డు ప్యాచ్వర్కులు పూర్తి చేసి, పునర్నిర్మాణం చేపట్టాల్సి ఉంది. కొన్ని చోట్ల తారురోడ్డు, మరికొన్ని చోట్ల సీసీ రోడ్డు నిర్మిస్తున్నారు.

అయిభీమవరం సరిహద్దు నుండి చేరుకుమిల్లి గ్రామంలోని సాయిబాబా గుడి వరకూ సీసీ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణం అక్కడ నుంచి ఏలూరుపాడు వంతెన వరకూ తారు రోడ్డు నిర్మించాల్సి ఉంది. అయిభీమవరం సరిహద్దులో సీసీ రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులు ప్రారంభించి 20 మీటర్ల మేర మొదటి లేయర్ వేశారు. చేరుకుమిల్లి ప్రధాన సెంటర్లో రోడ్డు వంకర లేకుండా నిదానంగా వెళ్లే విధంగా అక్కడ ఉన్న ఆలయాల ఆక్రమణలను తొలగించారు. నాలుగు గుడులు, ఒక శిలువ ఉన్న మందిరాలను తొలగించారు. దీంతో ఆ ప్రాంతంలో రోడ్డు విస్తరణ జరుగుతుంది. నిధులు మంజూరైనా కూడా పనుల్లో తీవ్ర జాప్యం అవుతుండడంతో స్థానికులు, వాహనచోదకులు, ప్రయాణికులు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బందులు పడుతున్నారు. రోడ్డుపై ఉన్న కంకర మట్టి వాహనాలు వెళ్లే సమయంలో ఎగిరిపోయి దట్టంగా అలముకుంటుందని, దీనివల్ల ద్విచక్రవాహనాలపై వెళ్లే వారు తీవ్ర ఇబ్బంది పడుతున్నామని వాపోతున్నారు. ఇకనైనా రోడ్డు నిర్మాణ పనులను వేగవంతం చేయాలని కోరుతున్నారు.

Commuters Suffer Due to Dust
Akividu: As part of the reconstruction of the Kalavapudi-Ganapavaram (KG Road) in the mandal, the construction work on the Cherukumilli-Elurupadu road is progressing slower than a snail's pace. For several years, these road construction works have been postponed. Despite four months passing since the reconstruction began, residents of the respective villages are expressing distress over the lack of speed in the work. Patchwork needs to be completed before reconstruction starts. Asphalt (tar) roads are being built in some places, while CC (Cement Concrete) roads are being constructed in others.
The Current Situation:
A CC road is to be constructed from the Aibhimavaram border to the Saibaba Temple in Cherukumilli village, and from there to the Elurupadu bridge, a tar road is planned. Construction of the CC road began at the Aibhimavaram border, where the first layer has been laid for about 20 meters. To ensure the road at the main Cherukumilli center is straight and safe, encroachments by temples were removed. Four temples and one shrine with a cross were relocated, facilitating road expansion in that area.
Even though funds have been sanctioned, there is a severe delay in the works, causing great difficulty for locals, drivers, and travelers. They complain that gravel and dust from the road fly up and settle thickly when vehicles pass, making it especially difficult for two-wheeler riders. They are requesting that the road construction works be accelerated at least now.
