పాలకులు, అధికారుల నిర్లక్ష్యం.. పాఠకులకు శాపం

ఆకివీడు: ఆకివీడులో ఏళ్ల చరిత్ర కలిగిన గ్రంథాలయం ప్రస్తుతం గిడ్డంగిగా మారింది. ఆకివీడు సంత మార్కెట్ వద్ద ఉన్న ఈ గ్రంథాలయం పాడైపోవడంతోపాటు వర్షం వస్తే లోపల నీళ్లు నిలబడేవి. అధికారులు, పాలకులు పట్టించుకోకపోవడంతో పూర్తిగా నిర్లక్ష్యానికి గురైంది. ఒకప్పుడు ఈ గ్రంథాలయం విజ్ఞాన గని. ఈ గ్రంథాలయంలో పుస్తకాలు, పత్రికలు అనేకం ఉండేవి. పుస్తకాలు కావాల్సిన వారు నాలుగు రోజులు ముందుగానే బుక్ చేసుకుని పట్టుకెళ్లేవారు. అడిగిన వారికి గ్రంథాలయ అధికారి ప్రాధాన్యం ప్రకారం పుస్తకాలను అందిస్తూ ఉండేవారు. అధిక సంఖ్యలో చదువరులు వచ్చేవారు.

అరవై ఏళ్ల పైబడి నుంచి కొనసాగుతున్న ఈ గ్రంథాలయం సుమారు 2019 వరకు కళకళలాడుతూ ఉండేది. వెయ్యికి పైగా పుస్తకాలతో పాటు పది రకాల దినపత్రికలు, వారపత్రికలు, ఎంప్లాయ్ మెంట్ న్యూస్, పక్షపత్రికలు, మాస పత్రికలు ఉండేవి. నిరుద్యోగులు అనేక మంది ఈ గ్రంథాలయంలో దిన పత్రికలు చదివి ఉద్యోగాలు సాధించిన యువకులు అనేక మంది ఉన్నారు. అంతటి ఘన చరిత్ర కలిగిన గ్రంథాలయం నేడు పూర్తిగా కనుమరుగైంది. పుస్తకాలు ఏమయ్యాయో తెలియని పరిస్థితి నెలకొంది.

Negligence of rulers and officials... A curse for readers

Akividu: A library in Akividu with years of history has now turned into a godown (warehouse). This library, located near the Akividu Market Center, has been completely neglected by officials and rulers; the building is dilapidated, and water stagnates inside whenever it rains.

Once, this library was a treasure trove of knowledge. It used to house numerous books and journals. Those who wanted specific books would reserve them four days in advance. The librarian would prioritize and provide books to readers based on demand. A large number of readers used to visit regularly.

This library, which has been functioning for over sixty years, was vibrant until approximately 2019. It contained over a thousand books along with ten types of daily newspapers, weeklies, employment news, fortnightlies, and monthly magazines. Many unemployed youths secured jobs after studying the newspapers and materials in this library. Today, a library with such a great history has completely vanished. The current status of those books remains unknown.
