ఆకివీడు: పట్టణం, మండలం పరిధిలో గురువారం రాత్రి వేగంగా వీచిన గాలి, వర్షానికి విద్యుత్తు సరఫరాకు అంతరాయం కలిగింది. ఆకివీడు పరిధిలో 10 విద్యుత్తు పరివర్తకాలు పాడయ్యాయి. పలు చోట్ల చెట్ల కొమ్మలు తీగలపై తెగిపడ్డాయి. ధర్మాపురం అగ్రహారం, కుప్పనపూడి, అజ్జమూరు, మండపాడు, పెదకాపవరం, చినకాపవరం తదితర గ్రామాల పరిధిలో చెట్లు విరిగి పడ్డాయి. 12 స్తంభాలు ఒరిగిపోయాయి. దీంతో ఆకివీడు పట్టణంతో పాటు గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లో అంతా అంధకారం అలుముకొంది. ఆ శాఖ అధికారులు, సిబ్బంది మరమ్మతులు పనుల్లో నిమగ్నమయ్యారు. దశలవారీగా విద్యుత్తు సరఫరాను పునరుద్ధరించారు. రొయ్యల సాగుదారులు జనరేటర్ల ద్వారా ఏరియేటర్లను తిప్పారు. డీజిల్ కోసం అర్ధరాత్రి పెట్రోల్ బంకులకు పరుగులు తీశారు. విద్యుత్తు సరఫరా లేక ఉక్కపోతతో అన్ని వయసుల వారు ఆపసోపాలు పడ్డారు.

Devastation Due to Untimely Rain
Akividu : Strong winds and rain on Thursday night disrupted the power supply across the town and mandal limits. Within Akividu limits, 10 electricity transformers were damaged. At several places, tree branches fell onto the power lines, snapping them. Trees were uprooted in villages including Dharmapuram Agraharam, Kuppanapudi, Ajjamuru, Mandapadu, Pedakapavaram, and Chinakapavaram. Twelve electrical poles bent over. As a result, darkness enveloped the entire Akividu town along with its rural areas. The department officials and staff engaged themselves in repair works. They restored the power supply in a phased manner. Prawn/shrimp farmers operated aerators using generators. They rushed to petrol bunks at midnight for diesel. Due to the lack of electricity supply and intense humidity, people of all age groups suffered immensely.
